When founder Carl Reuther dies at the age of 62, he has already put the continuation of his life’s work into solid hands.
The eldest sons Carl and Fritz as well as his son-in-law Otto Boehringer are now at the helm of the company. His widow Marie Reuther, née Altenkirch, takes over his position as a shareholder.
In 1896, one year before the foundation of the company, Carl Reuther had married Marie Altenkirch. She is, as people will say about her later on, not only the mother of 10 children but also the mother of all employees. Tactfully and skilfully she supports her husband in his work and reconciles tensions between him and his employees with great talent.
